Spanning an area of 4,400 square metres, Shudu Center houses seven commercial, retail, and office buildings that required a more sustainable form of cooling and heating during peak periods. With an existing chiller plant that could be upgraded to boost its efficiency, there was an opportunity to green the mixed-use development using a centralised cooling system.
SP acquired Shudu Center’s original chiller plant and upgraded it to a 7,000 refrigeration-tonne (RT) cooling and heating system. This provides the mixed-use development with centralised cooling and heating that ensures efficient energy consumption and a sustainable way to work and play in comfort. The reliability of the system is enhanced by an energy-efficient ice thermal energy storage system that pipes chilled water to cool spaces when electricity demand is high.
