The Opportunity
As a leading global manufacturer, Guangdong Lingxiao’s long term goal was to become energy efficient in a cost-effective manner. Its new manufacturing plant in Yangchun City offered a suitable location where solar energy can drive low-carbon operations. As such, Guangdong Lingxiao formed a partnership with SP Group to harness the sun’s power.
Our Solution
We installed our first Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) system in China across 17,000m2 of rooftop space – which doubles as a shelter for a carpark that can house 400 cars – to deliver high quality solar energy. With a 4 megawatt-peak (MWp) capacity, the project is expected to generate a total of 110 million kWh of clean energy over 25 years, or an average of 4.36 million kWh annually. This collaboration will help Guangdong Lingxiao reduce carbon emissions by nearly 4,500 tonnes a year – showing that energy-intensive industries can also go green.
