Betagro had set its sights on leveraging renewable energy sources to power its operations and cut carbon emissions as part of its commitment to responsible business practices. As such, Thailand’s leading integrated food company seized the opportunity to harness solar energy at seven of its factories that could enable long term sustainability.
SP Group joined forces with Betagro to install an 8.2 Megawatt Peak (MWp) large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) system at seven of Betagro’s factories. Comprising close to 13,000 solar panels in total, the project will generate about 11 Gigawatt-Hours (GWh) of clean energy per year – equivalent to about eight per cent of the total electricity consumed across the seven factories. This will enable Betagro to reduce its carbon emissions by 4,400 tonnes and achieve substantial energy cost savings of about 17 million baht (S$630,500) annually.
